The existing structures and methods of collaboration in primary and secondary healthcare are suffering from lack of innovation and patient-/user-centric thinking. To help overcome some of these systemic challenges, Future Health Lab has established a strategic innovation center with a range of cross-disciplinary partners. By establishing new alliances and embedding human-centered values into groundbreaking solutions, its aim is to change the way healthcare is provided in the future.

Talk about a perfect partner for sclable!

Since getting involved, sclable has collaborated in ideating, creating, prototyping and validating solutions for different healthcare fields. From chronic diseases like diabetes and underserved ones, like COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), to research regarding the improvement of public healthcare infrastructure.

One of the concepts created is for the platform DIABetter. Working closely with the Österreichische Gesundheitskasse (“Austrian Health Insurance” in English, or ÖGK for short), sclable aimed to improve the ongoing care for people with diabetes with an analytical and human-centered approach to development. The concept has visual elements that enhance the user experience and allows for better communication between patients dealing with diabetes and dedicated diabetes advisors.

Partnership goals

Find novel ways to manage chronic diseases…

…by creating, visualizing and validating prototypes for digital platforms with patients and healthcare providers.

Simplify patient journeys…

…by rapid prototyping tools that enhance awareness of disease risk factors among patients and healthcare providers alike.

Help underserved healthcare challenges…

…by providing new perspectives on topics, from underdiagnosed diseases to systemic data-sharing challenges across stakeholders.

To truly innovate however, the healthcare system must evolve alongside Industry 5.0.

Also known as the “Fifth Industrial Revolution”, Industry 5.0 is the transition from pure economics to a focus on social values and wellbeing. It emphasizes a human-centered approach, sustainability and resilience – all principles that align with healthcare’s mission to enhance patient care.

By adopting these principles and integrating human expertise with advanced technologies, healthcare can achieve a more compassionate and adaptable care model. With this care model, it could also be ever more capable of withstanding crises and promoting a healthier planet.

Digital solutions are crucial for this shift.

As a digital innovation studio working across multiple industry disciplines for years, sclable believes in, and sees the transferability, of solutions and ideas across different fields. (Even if their relation is not always obvious.) As Future Health Lab’s partner, we’ll continue providing our digital expertise, including technologies like AI and ML (machine learning).

In doing so, we hope for better diagnoses and treatment outcomes, the enhancement of informed decision-making capabilities, and the enablement of personalized medicine so healthcare professionals can spend more direct time with patients.
